To lift participation in apprenticeships, 10,000 new apprentices/trainees who sign up for training from 6 March 2013 will be eligible to apply for $1,000 towards the cost of tools and off-job course costs, or $2,000 for those in priority trades.
Employers will also be eligible for an equal payment.

* This means a qualification at level 4 on the NZQF that is comprised of at least 120 credits. Some credits within the qualification may be at lower levels on the NZQF.
Note: From 1 January 2014 the eligibility criteria for the Re-Boot subsidy may change to align with the New Zealand Apprenticeship scheme.
Eligible apprentices or trainees and their employers can now submit their application for the Re-boot payment to their industry training organisation.
