DANZ is the national arts, education and service agency for dance in New Zealand. WHAT DOES DANZ DO? DANZ supports professional dance - through professional development, audience development, brokering opportunities for performance and supporting festivals and seasons of dance. In 2003, DANZ will also produce a survival guide for dancers. DANZ supports the teaching of dance in primary and secondary schools. The DANZ Education Officer works with teachers and students to implement the new dance curriculum. The Secondary Schools Arts Coordinator (Dance) links schools with professional performance and works with dance companies on the programmes they offer schools. As subject association, DANZ provides a regular schools newsletter and is convening a national dance education conference in 2004. DANZ gathers and communicates dance information - through the website, the Bulletin, the Diary, the DANZ Magazine, MindMoves (a research service). DANZ links with Northern DANZ to distribute DANZnet and to pool information for the Diary. DANZ represents and advocates the interests of the dance sector to central and local government and other organizations. DANZ supports studio dance and recreational dance by brokering and supporting workshops and festivals, by establishing a professional code of ethics for teachers of dance, and by working to build collaboration in the sector. DANZ administers the NZ Association of Dance Teachers and the Tertiary Dance Educators' Network of NZ. For more information check out DANZ
