A Good Literacy Start to School.

When children start school they come with a diverse range of knowledge and experiences from their own social and cultural contexts.

Aspects of Literacy that children bring to school.

?  The ability to communicate their own experiences and to listen to and understand the expereinces of others.

?  Have the confidence to express their needs and ideas.

?  Have an oral vocabulary of nouns and verbs and verbs and be able to  describe concepts such as colour, shape and size.

?  To be able to retell an experience or known story in sequence.

?  To be curious about apects of language especially rhyme.

?  Be able to hear and distingish sounds.

?  To be able to use their own experiences to connect with stories.
