Online Learning Platform Launched by Major Tertiary Providers


Several of New Zealand’s leading tertiary institutes are launching an innovative new on-line learning platform – TANZ eCampus.

An exciting collaboration between Ara Institute of Canterbury, Otago Polytechnic, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, Eastern Institute of Technology and Universal College of Learning Palmerston North, the online learning service enables the institutes to offer first-rate online education to students across New Zealand.

Tony Gray, Chief Executive of Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and TANZ Convenor says the unique collaboration between these major institutes means they can each offer an exceptional online learning service and help students achieve their study goals regardless of location, lifestyle, family and work commitments.

“All education institutes involved in the collaboration currently offer a comprehensive range of services and student support. Introducing online courses gives each institute the capability to provide an additional service to students who need it. This is a complementary offering that will ensure students get the benefits of studying through a major tertiary provider but with the flexibility that online study offers. This is an exciting new opportunity for all involved,” says Gray.

In addition to offering flexible study options, a key benefit of study online through the TANZ eCampus service is that all qualifications earned will be awarded by one of the partner tertiary education providers.

“A qualification through TANZ eCampus is industry recognised and quality assured by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Students may also attend the graduation ceremony of any of the partner institutes,” says Gray.

Initially, students will be able to access more than 40 courses through the TANZ eCampus service, including a significant number of business-related courses and qualifications.

Pamela Simpson, Executive Director of TANZ eCampus says that study through the TANZ eCampus service will be of particular interest to work place learners looking to extend their job prospects or gain a new business related skill for example in project management.

“With a good level of business-related courses available online through the TANZ eCampus portal, work place learners should see a real benefit to the flexible and supportive online environment. Students will be well supported by real people. They will each have a personal advisor who will follow them through their learning journey, as well as access to experienced course facilitators who are dedicated to helping them achieve their study goals,” says Simpson.
