What are the symptoms of ADHD?

A child with ADHD

  • Makes careless mistakes or often fails to give close attention to details.
  • Has difficulty sustaining attention.
  • Does not appear to listen.
  • Struggles to follow instructions.
  • Loses things..lots of things.
  • Often forgets daily activities.
  • Is easily distracted.
  • Has difficulty with organization.
  • Avoids or dislikes tasks requiring sustained mental effort.

In addition the child with hyperactivity also

  • Fidgets alot and squirms in his/her seat or can incessantly kick his feet or make sounds with tapping finers.
  • Has difficulty remaining seated.
  • Runs about or climbs excessively
  • Acts as if driven by a motor.
  • Talks excessively.
  • Blurts out answers
  • Has difficulty waiting turns
  • Often interrupts or intrudes upon others.
