Playcentre is:

Internationally recognized
A parent co-operative
Voluntary
Unique to New Zealand
Based on the philosophy of child-initiated play and the importance of parents as educators of their own children
Views children as people who are strong and capable, who learn through play and who are competent to make their own choices about how and where to play.

Playcentre has three purposes: Early Childhood Education Centres, Adult Education and Educational Publications.
