The Aim Of The Talk-A Way Programme
Our Talk-A-Way Courses will provide practical tools for you to improve your pronunciation and diction so that you can communicate freely with employers, clients and colleagues. It will help you become a confident job candidate who has a clear understanding of what is expected in the New Zealand work environment. You will learn how clear communication allows you to perform effectively in an interview and in the workplace.
The Talk-A-Way Course combines two powerful elements:
1. The course has been developed in conjunction with well-known author and training consultant Ann Mayer, who has 30 years experience in practical communications skill; training in a number of industries, e.g., call centres, etc. We focus on real-life situations that you will face when seeking and maintaining employment. The areas covered include
- Working in New Zealand
- New Zealand Recruitment Process
- Motivation and Goal Setting
- Communication in interviews and at work
- Importance of first impressions
- Attitude and how it affects your ability to get work and your ability to keep it
- Questioning and Listening
- Customer service
- Handling difficult people
- CV creation
- Interview preparation and practice.
2. In addition, we provide EyeSpeak� a state-of-the-art speech recognition software application developed in New Zealand. The software is an integral part of the course and will be used in all sessions. Students will receive their own personal copy of the software complete with headset and microphone to allow them to continue their work at home and after course completion.
- Tailors pronunciation-learning to each student based on their native language
- 2000 words to develop clear English pronunciation
- Allows you to practice your pronunciation through interactive and exciting minimal pair and word exercises
- 2000 different exercises to test your listening and vocabulary skills
- You can see how sounds are made by way of an internationally patented vowel plot diagram of the mouth and tongue
- Corrects pronunciation through the use of pictures, written instructions and aurally.
Each session will include opportunities to practice your language skills in group discussions and exercises.
