Open Daily, 10am - 5pm

Visiting the Stevenson Discovery Centre is a great way to introduce toddlers to Auckland Museum, exposing them to new educational experiences in a safe and stimulating environment. There are two choices of venue within the Stevenson Discovery Centre, both of which offer Early Childhood groups the chance to explore and learn hands-on and at their own pace.

In Treasures & Tales children can explore our cultural diversity through activities such as playing musical instruments or dressing up, while surrounded by treasures from all over the world.

Weird & Wonderful focuses on natural history, giving children the chance to get close to live creatures such as insects and native lizards, while discovering for themselves the diversity of the natural world.

Group visits may be booked through the School Bookings officer. The cost for a group visit to either Treasures & Tales or Weird & Wonderful is only $2 per child, and any accompanying adults visit for free. All booked groups receive an introduction from a trained staff member, who will accompany your group and facilitate the childrens exploration of these exciting galleries.
