Athletic training reaps rewards

Well done to Long Bay College Year 12 student Tyler Hamlin who is the first student to graduate from the Millenium Institutes 5 year LTAD (Long Term Athletic Development Programme). Tyler was recruited to the programme whilst at Northcross Intermediate School.  The programme is designed to develop all round skills in youngsters from the age of 10-16 years of age.  When asked if its made a difference to his volleyball playing, Tyler modestly said they teach you to train yourself and the training has helped me to do the right exercises in the off-season so that I can still keep fit.  Tyler plays beach volleyball and volleyball and was selected to represent New Zealand in the under 17 Australasian Beach Volleyball Tournament in Melbourne at the beginning of January with his partner from Tauranga Boys College, they came fifth in the tournament. www.longbaycollege.com
