Community Tree Planting

For World Environment Day.

A group of English students and myself went to the Kurt Brehmer Walkway,

beside the Whau River on Rosebank Peninsula,Avondale, Auckland.

Brrrrrrr it was so chilly at first and there was some frost on the ground,

Bella's feet were really cold! But!!!!....we worked in a sunny place and

planted 250 native trees!!! A great team effort. We had 2 supervisors,

one handsome young man from Conservation Volunteer NZ and an ecologist

from Native Forest Management. The plan for the area is to bring it

back to its original glory so that the native birds will return. It was a

really fun morning and we finished with a picnic just before the weather

became cloudy and cold.

Sylvia La Trobe: English tutor.

Above: are photos of students enjoying themselves at the planting day.

Below: The thank you reply from the Volunteer Engagement Officer

Sylvia

I am so glad you had a good time and I'm very impressed by the numbers of trees you

planted! Great Stuff.
