Summary A range of scholarships are available to assist people wishing to study in New Zealand's tertiary education sector. Below is a list of links that should help identify possible options.

The New Zealand Vice-Chancellors' Committee Scholarships Committee is convened by a senior academic and comprises representatives of each of the universities. Through the NZVCC Scholarships Manager the committee administers more than 40 scholarships for graduate and postgraduate study, together with 12 for undergraduate study. Most scholarships are designed to assist New Zealanders to further their education.

The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology is responsible for about 60% of the public expenditure on research and development in New Zealand, investing approximately $310 million annually in line with policies and priorities set by the Government.

Each year the Ministry of Education awards a limited number of $10,000 TeachNZ scholarships to encourage the future teachers we need the most to train as teachers.

Manaaki Tauira 2000provides financial assistance for Maori students undertaking tertiary study.

Break Out is a database run be Funding Information Inc that holds information about awards, scholarships and grants for individual development.

New Zealand Official Development Assistance (NZODA) provides support for economic and social development in developing countries, especially in the South Pacific and Asia Regions. It is managed by the Development Cooperation Division (DEV) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in conjunction with New Zealand's Diplomatic Posts.

Asia 2000 was founded in 1994 as a non-profit, apolitical organisation dedicated to building bridges of understanding between New Zealand and Asia.

Three Chevening Aotearoa Fellowships enable experienced senior public servants to spend up to three months in the United Kingdom to participate in a training course at a management college or to undertake "time out" study at, for example, a British university.

Fulbright Graduate Student Awards are for Americans who either have completed or are about to complete a Bachelor's degree, or who are already enrolled in an American Master's or PhD program and wish to undertake a year of research in New Zealand.
