The Brain Injury Association New Zealand provides information, advocacy and support to people with Brain Injury and their families/whanau.

Families where children have had accidents involving brain injury often need support and advice.
Brain Injury is damage to living brain tissue caused by an external mechanical force.
It is usually characterised by a period of unconsciousness lasting minutes, days, months or indefinately.

The resulting damage to brain tissue impairs the individual's abilities both physically and cognitively
