Walking to school is about to get way cool with StreetWise Rangers

By now you might have heard about the walking school buses which are starting up all around the country. StreetWise Rangers is a new theme EECA has developed to make the walking school bus even more fun and exciting for children. The story below tells you all about these superheroes...

Ten thousand light years away from Earth, on the planet Monox, a billion
people live in a giant city called Mega-Urbis. Almost everybody drives car
machines. Everyone except a group of nomads with magical powers, called the
Neo Pedestrians.

The Neo Pedestrians were outlawed because they said car machines were
destroying the planet. They are forced to live outside the city walls, or
in the secret tunnels beneath the streets.

Now they fight to protect what is left of their planet. It's a difficult
struggle: car machines can be dangerous. Only the most street-wise become
leaders, or Rangers.

The Rangers wanted to warn other planets about Mega-Urbis and the car
machines. They chose two Ranger children as messengers: a brother and
sister called Strolon and Amblin, and sent them across oceans of time (ten
thousand light years to be exact) until, disguised as a shooting star, their
space pod landed here on Earth.

Now, Strolon and Amblin are sworn to help and protect people, especially
children, until they can train enough human Rangers to protect the Earth.
Rangers and their friends can be recognised by a special sign, the orange
Pedestrian Star.

What is a walking school bus?

A walking school bus is a safe, healthy and efficient way for children to get to school. Groups of children walk to or from school along a set route, stopping along the way to pick up or drop of children - just like an ordinary bus. The children are supervised by adults who have been trained in the basics of road safety. Have a look at the step by step guide for more information on Energy Efficiency & Conservation Act (EECA)
