| New Zealand is to conduct it's first national survey of children's nutrition. It will cost $4 million. Three thousand children ranging from five to fourteen years will be interviewed. These children come from 160 schools. The researchers involved are from Auckland Uniservices at the Auckland University. These researchers have been contracted by the MInistry of Health. Research teams from Auckland, Otago and Massey Universities will be involved. The survey will provide important national information on children's food intakes, physical activity and body measurements. Measuring children's height and weight will give an indication of how many children are overweight. Nutrients will be assessed with blood and urine samples. |
