Cyber bullying |
| Submitted: 16/Sep/2009 |
The video on this website is brilliant to show children, parents and teachers about bullying especially cyber bullying. It is created using year 5 and 6 students. It clearly demonstrates how something something so small (to us) can turn into something so serious for children. When I watched this it made me reflect on how I handle situations in class and in the playground.
There are two videos. Click and watch 'At a Distance'

Information about Mobile Phone Safety |

Information about Mobile Phone Safety
Bullying and Harassment.
New Zealand is fortunate that both Vodafone NZ and Telecom NZ have joined with NetSafe to combat text bullying.
Text bullying can take a number of forms:
mean or offensive messages - received once or repeatedly
being bombarded by a large volume of messages (e.g. over 100 a day)
offensive or upsetting photo or video messages
threatening messages
Many people who are text bullied do not feel comfortable talking with others about the bullying. But talking with somone can help. If you are a young person, your parent or caregiver could support and advocate for you with your school, your service provider or even the Police if the situation is very serious. Text bullies leave an electronic trail, so they can be caught, and, if their behaviour is criminal, even prosecuted.
If you get a bullying message, it is best not to respond. Even if you send a message like "Who is this?", you may delay the complaint process with your service provider. Also, keep the messages on your phone until you report the content.
