Scots College

Scots College is an Independent Day and Boarding School for Boys’, Years 1 to 13. Our School roll currently sits at 855 students. Scots was founded in 1916 by the Presbyterian Church.

Scots is a modern learning institution with first class facilities and leading edge technology. The College has an excellent academic record which reflects an emphasis on learning and high expectations of student achievement.

A Prep School, Middle School and Senior School
Our focus is to provide an all-round education; where sound work, ethics, self discipline and independent learning and leadership skills are fostered; developing balanced individuals who can go into the community with confidence and become successful citizens.

The school programme prepares students for NCEA at Levels 1, 2 and 3, and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma.

Opportunities

Scots College strives to create all-round men, and so we strongly encourage our students to get involved in school life outside the classroom. This enables them to give expression to talents and skills not necessarily evident in class. At Scots we place great value on our music, drama and sporting programmes. There is a wide range of sports available at all levels and we enjoy considerable success in regional and national competitions. All weather surfaces allow a number of sports to continue through the year.

Scots also offers four unique sports programmes; The High Performance Athletes’ Academy, The Tup Radford Sailing Academy, The Golf Academy and The Football Academy. The Performing Arts Programme enables students to take part in extensive choral and instrumental programmes and develop skills and experience in Drama activities.

The College Pipe Band has members from Years 9 to 13. The Band performs at College functions and is invited to play at many special occasions in the City. They have an enviable competition record.

International Students
We have over 30 International Students from Asia and Europe. These students stay in the Boarding House or in Homestay accommodation, arranged by the College. Those who are proficient in English take part in the full academic programme whilst students requiring English language assistance are enrolled in the College ESOL programme.

Boarding
The College has boarding facilities for 80 students from Year 7 to Year 13. Weekly and full term boarding options are available. Boarders are closely involved in all facets of College life and develop independence, maturity, leadership skills and lasting friendships.
