 "Setting the standard" for training in the civil engineering industry.

The New Zealand Institute of Highway Technology Ltd (NZIHT) provides specialised education and training in the civil and infrastructure industry.  NZIHT is wholly owned by the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT), but operates independently with its own offices and administration teams.

NZIHT delivers training and education through certificate, diploma and graduate diploma programmes and qualifications.  These include specialist roading qualifications such NZ Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Diploma in Engineering Technology (Highways), Certificate in Engineering Technology (Civil), and the Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Highways).

NZIHT also organise short courses, workshops, and seminars to facilitate the transfer and dissemination of technology, and are the largest provider of civil and infrastructure training in New Zealand.  During 2014, we organised and delivered more than 200 short courses in centres across New Zealand.  Courses were also presented in the South Pacific.

The NZ Institute of Highway Technology places a strong emphasis in providing quality programmes based on industry needs and utilises a permanent staff of sixteen. Its network of independent consultants who are experts in their respective fields, ensures courses reflect current industry practice and incorporate latest advances in technology.

All programmes and courses offered by NZIHT are delivered via the highly successful Study Block and self-directed study model.  This part-time learn and earn' model has proven ideal for students who are in full-time employment but also wish to study towards a qualification.

Programmes are also delivered under the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki's accreditation.  All academic processes associated with programme and course delivery are carried out in accordance with WITT's Quality Management System.
