|NEW ZEALAND'S EDUCATION
TCM is making great leaps forward in New Zealand, revolutionizing how we perceive and treat illnesses, challenging us to participate in and shape a new medical model that integrates the best that the eastern and western worlds have to offer.
As one of the fastest growing and widely accepted emerging health care professions, TCM offers excellent opportunities for those seeking a career in this health field as primary care providers.
NZSATCM is the longest-established education institution of its kind in New Zealand. The school is dedicated to providing quality education enabling the students to gain the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential in the specialized field of TCM.
The School is NZQA registered and accredited, NZQA being the New Zealand government crown entity tasked with providing national and international leadership in assessment and qualifications.
As the oldest TCM training provider in New Zealand, the School is at the forefront of influencing the government’s policy change to move the TCM professional’s current marginal role in the voluntary-regulated private health care to stronger roles within mainstream public health care.
COURSES AND PROGRAMMES
The School’s range of certificate, diploma and degree programmes connects students to the workplace by ensuring the curriculum is current and relevant, and the contents are of the right mix of theory and practical skills.
The external advisory committee forms part of the School’s quality assurance system to involve industries and the community to develop the best standard of efficiency, effectiveness, excellence and equity in the education and training offered.
Apart from the four-year Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) programme, the School also offers certificate and diploma qualifications in midwifery acupuncture, microsystems, tuina, qigong and Chinese herbal medicine. The academic staircase enables students to attain multiple qualifications by gaining credits at lower-level studies towards a higher-level qualification. The mode of study is classroom-based. Some courses may be offered by distance learning in an online environment.
The demand of the study will require students to apply themselves and put in the time and effort. A high level of personal discipline and time management are the ingredients for success.
To meet the course requirements, students of the Bachelor programme administer acupuncture treatments in the student clinics, supervised by qualified and experienced practitioners
