Come study English in New Zealand's most beautiful city!
Waiariki Institute of Technology provides an English programme of study for speakers of other languages. The Certificate in English enables students to progress through six English proficiency levels (beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced).
Our students will take part in interactive activities to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for everyday life in New Zealand, and for further study in certificate, diploma and degree qualifications. Regular assessments enable progression to higher levels of study. Students may continue their studies until the desired proficiency level is obtained.
Students may start the Certificate in English on any date and study for any number of weeks, full-time or part-time.
Waiariki has a friendly, helpful team of people in the International Centre who provide pastoral care to all international students. They speak Cantonese, Danish, English, French, Hindi, Mandarin, Norwegian, Punjabi, Swedish, Tamil, and Te Reo M?ori. They will assist with enrolments, online student visa applications, medical and health insurance, banking and general advice, airport pickup and orientation, and cultural and personal support.
"The pastoral care and support for these students to assist them in their adjustment to student life in Rotorua and New Zealand is outstanding." EER report 2010.
Waiariki is an official IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Testing Centre. IELTS test results provide proof of English competency for entry into mainstream qualifications at Waiariki and other institutes.
Waiariki's main campus in Rotorua is located in the heart of the beautiful Bay of Plenty region. Rotorua is New Zealand's most-visited tourist destination and was winner of New Zealand's Most Beautiful City award in 2010 and earlier years. The attractive campus is set in park-like grounds just a 10-minute drive to Rotorua's city centre. All Waiariki students are provided with a bus pass to access all routes on the Rotorua Cityride bus network which operates seven days a week.
M?ori cultural events, white-water rafting, mountain biking, hiking, historical attractions and shopping are easily accessed. It takes five minutes to drive to the country's best mountain bike trails in Whakarewarewa Forest, 10 minutes to local lakes, less than one hour to beautiful coastal beaches or LakeTaupo, and just three hours to New Zealand's largest ski area.
