St Margaret's College
We invite you to visit us and feel the St Margaret's "difference". We are proud of our school and our girls and value our school family of past and present students and parents. At St Margaret's we place a strong emphasis on a holistic education. We work in partnership with our parents and families to offer our girls the very best academic and career opportunities but also to ensure their physical, emotional and spiritual development in a caring Christian environment.
We proudly offer a seamless education for girls from Year 1 (5 years) through until they leave school.
Boarding at St Margaret's College is a service available to those who require an onsite community as part of their daughter’s education. Tradition and stability provide the foundation which nurtures innovation and growth during the adolescent years. We value and place an importance on the social and ethnic differences that enrich our boarding community. Through a wide range of opportunities, young women in our care are encouraged to live and lead in a global community and to better understand the responsibilities that come with this role. It is fully accepted that learning is not confined to the classroom and a wide variety of learning experiences may take place outside the classroom and in the community beyond the school. Learning acknowledges our heritage as New Zealanders who recognise Maori and Pakeha as full Treaty of Waitangi partners and who value and respect all cultures.
St Margaret's is the only school in Canterbury and the only girls' school in the South Island currently offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. As well we offer the National Certificate of Educational Achievement. In offering the choice of the International Baccalaureate Diploma and NCEA we strive to give our students the opportunity to follow a philosophy of education and an internationally recognized qualification which reflects exactly what St Margaret’s is all about.
