A month of Matariki at Auckland Museum

This year's MATARIKI programme is inspired by our Taumata's vision for the Museum:
Whakamana, nga taonga tuku iho, hei whakataki i nga ra ki muri. Honouring the past, Embracing the present, Guiding our future. We're one week into our exciting month-long programme which features waiata, storytelling, poetry, offsite walks, lectures and the Matariki market and we look forward to extending our manaakitanga to you this Matariki. 












MAUMAHARA - HONOURING THE PAST


These off-site walks  draw connections between our collections and their relevance in Te Ao Maori.
Wananga Rongoa

Hikoi to Takaparawhau (Bastion Point), Te Pukaki Ecological Restoration Project.
An off-site conversation between botany curator Ewen Cameron, tangata whenua Char Wiapo and a rongoa specialist Rob McGowan.  Saturday 30 June, 11am, FREE  Wananga Puoro
Hikoi around the Auckland Zoo and the newly opened Te Wao Nui a Tane native bird sanctuary.
