Twelve Wintec  Fabrication graduates have been snapped up by Pacific Aerospace Corporation and are about to take up positions in the detail division of PAC.  In the meantime, Wintec is gearing up to provide highly qualified graduates in other areas of Aeronautical Engineering at the same time to cater for the growth in a number of new initiatives that are occurring in the area. 

Engineering Programme  Manager Louis Ewington said The Certificate in Fabrication programme was established in 2003 as a 12 week pre-employment course for prospective students wanting to work within the detail section of the Aeronautical Engineering industry.

 After extensive consultations with Pacific Aerospace Corporation (PAC) on content, industry involvement and support, the first programme resulted in all 10 graduates being employed directly by PAC in February  this year.  The second programme started in August this year.

“The current 12 week Certificate in Fabrication Foundations programme is being enhanced to a 20 week Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering Construction programme for 2005.  Wintec is currently looking for up to 20 people interested in pursuing a career in this area of engneering.  This is planned to begin in February 2005 subject to external  approval,”  he said.

  “As a result of discussions with the local Aeronautical Engineering industry,  Wintec  is now gearing up to include several higher skilled aspects of aircraft assembly into our programmes.”
