Wintec has had ten  TESSOL scholarships awarded by the Ministry of Education  for 2005.

The scholarships enable selected  primary and secondary teachers from throughout the Waikato to study  the Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages programme with no tuition  fees for two years.  Three of these teachers have gained their scholarships from the Pasifika student category, four for the new migrant student category and three for the international student category.

Wintec School of  Education & Social  Development spokesperson, Jill Musgrave, said  Wintec’s Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Grad Dip TESOL) programme has had Ministry of Education scholarship holders from Waikato schools every year since 2002 Wintec.

“We are  one of  five institutions the Ministry of Education selected  as providers throughout New Zealand for the TESSOL scholarships. The other organisations are  Auckland College of Education, Massey University, Victoria University and Christchurch College of Education.
