Aspect Christchurch is the first Cambridge centre in New Zealand authorized to deliver and test the new TKT exam Teaching Knowledge Test.  TKT tests knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages, and concentrates on the knowledge needed by all English language teachers.  It is an accessible test which is prepared and delivered to international standards.

TKT helps teachers to find out about the main areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.  In preparing for TKT, candidates have the opportunity to extend their knowledge of English language teaching and familiarize themselves with concepts related to language, language use and the background to and practice of language teaching and learning.  This knowledge is tested in a straightforward and objective format test.

  • To give students a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language Teaching classroom.

  • To improve students overall level of English

Target groups:

  • Pre service teachers

  • Suitable for teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners who wish to refresh their Teaching knowledge

  • Teachers who are moving to teaching English from another subject
