Art Student Scholarship Welcomed. An exciting new fine art scholarship for Whanganui UCOL Quay School of the Arts students announced today is a wonderful initiative, according to Campus Principal Suzanne Frecklington. The Quay School of the Arts was initially approached last year by pattillo, a consulting company in Wellington, about their desire to explore a scholarship for Quay School of the Arts students. The result is pattillo committing to a ten year relationship with Quay School of the Arts students, with an annual $7,500 scholarship. This scholarship brings with it not only funding and prestige, it brings an endorsement of personal creative potential and self-belief that follows outstanding achievement. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. Myra McIntyre, Head of Quay School of the Arts said this is also a reflection of the reputation of the Quay School and its achievements. This is one of those great ideas that benefits everyone: pattillo, Quay School of the Arts students, and Whanganui UCOL. It is an expressive endorsement of the School and its achievements. It also reflects the increasing respect that creative problem solving and art education is gaining in the business world. A special commemorative medal by jewellery artist Frances Stachl will be awarded to winning students. Quay School of the Arts staff, pattillo, and members of the national art community will work together on judging and other aspects of the scholarship. Details of the scholarship were announced to students and staff at a special function at Whanganui UCOLs Main Campus earlier today.
