Ordinary Men make Great Fathers

Great Fathers initiator Dave Owens says: When I first came across the articles of Dr Robin Fancourt, her book Brainy Babies and the Brainwave Trust - and began to understand how fragile and impressionable young babies brains are - I felt a huge sense of anguish. I realised what I hadnt known when I was a young dad. And I felt that the lives of my children might have been different had I known then what I was just learning. Okay, I understand the neuroscience wasn't well defined back then, and no one was really aware of the fundamental importance of a baby's first three years. But it is available now. I feel compelled to make what is known - about babies and parenting - widely available and in a way that dads can really take it in. I want to provide information that helps and encourages men to be the best dads they can be."

Dad's Toolbox  has information that will answer most questions.  Check it out.

Great Fathers presents In Your Hands, a DVD for 'expecting' and new dads that includes

  • What's It Like to Be a Father!?! - a movie of NZ musicians Tiki Taane, Warren Maxwell and Sean Donnelly (SJD) about their experience becoming dads

  • Songs for men by artists including Tiki, Warren, SJD and Rio Hunuki-hemopo

  • A cover package that has a very cool 16-page booklet designed for new and soon-to-be dads

In Your Hands is not for sale - it is a gift for men who are about to become fathersto help them understand their baby and what to expect once the baby comes home.
