PGDR ITO share services with JITO

Working with other Industry Training Organisations (ITO) to improve our service

The PGDR ITO has recently signed a contract with the Joinery ITO to provide shared regional staff services to the South Island. The current Government is looking to ITOs to work together more and to become more efficient.  The PGDR ITO is carrying out a shared service venture with the Joinery ITO in the South Island by increasing our number of full time regional training advisors from two to three.  All three of these people will provide industry training services to the plumbing, gasfitting drainlaying roofing and joinery industries.

We are confident this will allow us to provide better services to the PGD industries. Not only will it be more effective, but it is a concrete step in getting the eight ITOs that cover the wider construction sector working more closely together.

By sharing services and initiating joint ventures we see this as a practical way to be more effective while keeping the independence of each ITO. This approach of clusters of related ITOs working closely together is gathering momentum. At present the PGDR ITO works with Joinery, Flooring, Creative Trades, Building and Construction, Electrical, Infrastructure and Building Services.
