Brother and sister schools perform for charity

Queen Margaret and Scots Colleges will join forces on August 4 to stage a musical extravaganza to raise funds for charity.

Shared Harmonies will feature talented musicians and instrumental groups across all age levels from both Colleges. Included in the concert line-up will be Queen Margaret Colleges award winning Barbershop chorus, The Sweet Marigaritas, who will shortly travel to Hamilton to defend their National title.

Shared Harmonies will also feature the Colleges jazz bands, orchestras and choirs. The finale will see more than 70 musicians, singers and dancers together on stage.

Interwoven between musical items will be the story of the two Colleges, their shared history and activities including community service which is so much a part of the lives of both Queen Margaret and Scots.

Head and Deputy Head Prefects of both Colleges will act as collaborative MCs for the event.

Shared Harmonies will take place at 7.30pm on August 4 at the Wellington Town Hall. Tickets are available from Ticketek - www.ticketek.co.nz. All proceeds will go to Wellington Presbyterian Support Services.

While Shared Harmonies is the first venture of its kind by the brother and sister schools, it is not the first time they have joined together on fundraising initiatives. Most recently Queen Margaret and Scots Colleges collaborated on Share, a cook book crammed with nearly 150 recipes contributed by friends and family, Old Boys, Old Girls, teachers and students, renowned Wellington Restaurateurs and chefs. Share sells for only $39.95 and can be ordered on line at www.sharecookbook.co.nz
