A range of scholarships are available to assist people wishing to study in New Zealand's tertiary education sector. A list of links is provided below that will help you identify possible options.

  Break Out is a searchable database of over 2,200 awards, scholarships and grants for individuals in New Zealand. Break Out is New Zealand's most comprehensive source of scholarship information.

  Careers New Zealand provides information and advice to help you make good decisions about work, study and training. It also provides a list of scholarships, grants and awards.


• 
  
  Your tertiary education organisation may also make scholarships available. Information on scholarships may be made available on your TEO's website, or through a scholarships office on campus.

Universities

• 
  
  Universities New Zealand provides information on scholarships that are available for students to study in New Zealand's universities or overseas.


• 
  
  The Ministry for Science and Innovation is offering 50 Postgraduate Internships for up to six months in innovative New Zealand businesses.


• 
  
  The Reserve Bank of New Zealand offers scholarships to students who are majoring in Economics, Finance or Banking at Honours, Masters or PhD level. Separate scholarships for second year M�ori and Pasifika students are also provided to encourage study in these fields.

M�ori

• 
  
  The M�ori Education Trust provides financial assistance for M�ori students undertaking tertiary study.


• 
  
  The Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship is available to M�ori students studying in any field in any tertiary education institution. Preference is given to descendents of M�ori World War One veterans.


• 
  
  Ng�rimu VC and 28th (M�ori) Battalion Memorial Scholarships are available for enterprising, innovative and influential M�ori, who meet the criteria and possess characteristics that are identified as being consistent with those of the 28th M�ori Battalion.

Pasifika

• 
  
  The Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs provides information on scholarships available to Pasifika students.


• 
  
  Pacific Islands Polynesian Education Foundation and the Norman Kirk Memorial Trust provide financial assistance to Pasifika students who are enrolled at tertiary education institutions in New Zealand.

Teaching and education

• 
  
  Each year the Ministry of Education awards a limited number of $10,000 TeachNZ Scholarships to encourage people to train as teachers in the areas where there is greatest need.

  The Ministry of Education offers Special Education Scholarships worth $3,000 per year of study for those studying for a tertiary qualification in Speech - Language Therapy and Sign Language Interpreting.

  The Ministry of Education's Study Awards in M�ori and Pasifika Education Research aim to assist emerging education researchers undertaking a Masters or PhD to make a quality contribution to the body of knowledge in M�ori or Pasifika education research.

Overseas study and international students

  New Zealand Educated provides scholarship information for both international and New Zealand students.

  Chevening Scholarships, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council, are prestigious awards which enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom. It offers young New Zealanders annual scholarships in three categories: journalism, politics and post-graduate study.

  Fulbright Graduate Student Awards are provided to New Zealanders and Americans who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential to undertake postgraduate study in the other country.

  The New Zealand Aid Programme provides support for citizens of some developing countries to undertake vocational training or tertiary level study in their home country, in New Zealand or in the Pacific region.
