Students at NorthTec now have even more options to nurture their creative leanings following the launch of a Diploma in Digital Multimedia Production.

The one year diploma was developed by South Seas Film and Television School in Auckland, and will be run out of NorthTec's Raumanga campus from 10 July.

The Diploma in Digital Multimedia Production will provide students with the practical industry related skills, operational practices and theoretical knowledge needed in a number of disciplines in the diverse world of digital multimedia.

Production processes, audio and video production and editing, Basic 2 and 3D animation, web site creation, bitmap and vector graphic creation, and HTML development are just some of the components of this course, which NorthTec project manager John Gwillim guarantees will be "a lot of fun".

At the agreement signing between the two organisations NorthTec Chief Executive Terry Barnett acknowledged the record of South Seas Film and Television School for its strong training in digital multimedia, and for its reputation with the film and television industry.

"I am pleased that collaboration with the school will enable NorthTec to increase study options in the north," said Mr Barnett.

Gerben Cath, Director of South Seas Film and TV School, says that South Seas is also delighted that students throughout Northland will be able to complete the Diploma in Digital Multimedia Production at NorthTec.

Mr Cath said the diploma would provide the training required for students on the programme to gain the practical skills they need to gain employment in the multimedia industry.
