If you’re 16 to 21 years old, a Modern Apprenticeship will launch your career in the best way possible. You’ll be paid to learn from the experts for two to four years, depending on the industry you choose.

So, if you’re ready to earn and keen to learn, keep reading, because there may already be a Modern Apprenticeship available in the industry or business that interests you.

Modern Apprenticeships – workplace training for today

As a Modern Apprentice you’ll be assigned your own personal mentor – a Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator – whose job it is to help you succeed.

Your Co-ordinator will ensure you complete your training with an employer who offers top quality employment-based training.

Your own personalised training plan

Your Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator will work with you and your employer to develop a personal training plan tailored to your needs.

Modern Apprenticeships – a focus on your success

Your Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator will regularly review your progress against your personal training plan to make sure you’re on target to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

A nationally-recognised qualification

Modern Apprenticeships training leads to a National Certificate at levels 3 and 4. This means your Modern Apprenticeship will be recognised by employers throughout New Zealand.

Who’s eligible?

To be eligible for Modern Apprenticeships you must:

• be 16 to 21 years old when you begin*

• meet any entry requirements for your particular industry or business

• be ready to work towards National Certificate/s at levels 3 and 4.

Entry requirements vary from industry to industry, but the Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator will let you know what these are and will help the employer find the best person to meet their needs.

*Provision may be made for older people seeking a change in career.

Your commitment

A Modern Apprenticeship is your passport to a successful future in the industry of your choice. You’ll find there are plenty of rewards if you are motivated to learn, hard-working and keen to give everything a go. If this sounds like you, call 0800 4 APPRENTICE (0800 4 27773)
