Book now to hear from one of the world's leading thinkers on Dyslexia.
You are invited to a very special education-focused event featuring international dyslexia expert Neil Mackay.
In half-day workshops throughout New Zealand during June, Mr Mackay will offer hands-on advice regarding dyslexia best practice in education, taking into account the new curriculum and resources available to New Zealand teachers and parents.
This is an extraordinary and rare opportunity to hear from one of the world's leading thinkers on dyslexia. Mr Mackay consults to governments in the UK, Hong Kong and Malta, and is the author of Removing Dyslexia as a Barrier to Achievement.
The workshops will be a cornerstone activity for this year's Dyslexia Action Week, a week-long programme of events which the Dyslexia Foundation is holding throughout the country from 15-21 June. The key theme of the week is 'Action' and we will keep you posted as we get closer to the week.
The half-day workshops are already proving to be very popular, with the release of venue details and on-line registration last week. We suggest acting quickly. Fees are just $195 per attendee.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, you can also receive an incredible $100 discount off this - reducing the fee to just $95 per person - if you are a staffmember of a 4D | For Dyslexia school or providing support within a school. You can find out more about 4D and register at www.4dschools.org.nz
Dates, venues and registration packs for the half day workshops available now at http://www.dyslexiafoundation.org.nz/neil_mackays.html. To claim your discount, make sure you sign up to the 4D programme before registering.
In other news, the Ministry of Education has now released its new "Teachers Resource: About Dyslexia". There is a lot of helpful material in this resource, and we recommend downloading a copy online at http://www.tki.org.nz/r/literacy_numeracy/lit_dyslexia_e.php#update-jan-2009 . As well as providing information, the booklet is action-orientated in encouraging schools (and parents) to proactively seek solutions around dyslexia, and as such it complements both the 4D programme and, of course, the upcoming workshops.
